The legend of powerful 427 convertibles in the mid sixties is reignited as Chevrolet unveils the latest addition to the iconic Corvette family— the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition, available early summer 2012. It revealed with the available 60th Anniversary appearance package featuring an Arctic White exterior, a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior with sueded-microfiber accents, an optional graphics package with full-length racing stripes in Pearl Silver Blue, and commemorative badging.
For sports car enthusiasts, collectors, future aficionados and everyone in between, the 427 marks the evolution of the American sports car throughout the 60-year storied history of Corvette married with its innovative future.Merging classic design and power with state-of-the-art technology proven on racetracks around the world today, the 427 is a culmination of Corvette’s first 60 years and sets the stage for the next 60.
“This is the fastest and most capable Corvette convertible yet,” says Harlan Charles, Chevrolet Corvette Product Marketing Manager. “We have added Z06 and ZR1 technology to the Corvette convertible. The carbon-fiber domed hood, Z06 fenders and ground effects reduce weight.”The 427 embodies a myriad of features and technologies found within the sixth generation Corvette family including carbon fiber and the handcrafted LS7 small block, derived from the American Le Mans winning Corvette race program. Magnetic Selective Ride Control™ was introduced in 2003 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Corvette and comes standard on the 427. Other standard technologies include launch control, active handling, traction control, cross-drilled brake rotors with six piston calipers and dual mode exhaust system. It’s iconic American supercar performance with the exhilaration of a convertible.
