The result is a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, from 0 to 124 mph in only 10.2 seconds later, wjile top speed goes up to 202 mph.
The car’s exterior is defined by three-dimensional front bumper with large air intakes, new sill elements and a redesigned diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes and a big rear spoiler available as an option.
Updated 09/26/2011: Lamborghini has announced today that for the 2012 model year the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera will be prices from $237,600.
The exterior
The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is not only more powerful, but also more dynamic and lighter that a Gallardo 560-4. The model weights only 2954 lbs, making it not only 154 lbs lights, but also the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range.
All these improvements have been possible thanks to the intense use of carbon fiber the exterior and interior components. Also, in order to improve aerodynamics, Lamborghini engineers remodeled the front bumper - three-dimensional, deeply recessed elements form trapezoidal frames for the large air intakes. Together with the V-shaped, sharply defined nose and the LED daytime running lights, the black elements give the front end a razor-sharp look, reminiscent of Lamborghini’s top model. Next to these elements, the Superleggera also gets new sill elements and a redesigned diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes a small rear spoiler as standard and a big rear spoiler available as an option.
The car sits on 19-inch units made from aluminum forged and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 295/30 ZR19 at the rear. Customers can choose between: Verde Ithaca, Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus.
The interior
The interior was also all about reducing the car’s total weight. The center tunnel cover, the door panels and the surround of the e-gear automated manual transmission lever, but also the sports seats’ shells are made from carbon-fiber.
The sports seats are clad in lightweight Alcantara instead of leather, while all the interior is crafted with passionate attention to the tiniest detail; high quality materials indulge both visually and sensually.
However, despite the fact Lamborghini did almost everything to reduce the total weight, the supercar is still being offered with air conditioning and electric powered windows as standard.
The car’s interior, including roof and mats, retains the Lamborghini Gallardo’s black finish. As a contrasting color for elements such as seat trims and stitching, customers can choose among green, yellow, orange and two shades of gray.
The engine
Under the hood Lamborghini has placed a 5.2 liters V10 engine that delivers a total of 570 HP at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 398,3 ft lbs at 6,500 rpm. The car accelerates zero to 0-62 mph in just 3,4 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in 10,2 seconds and continues relentlessly to its top speed of 202 mph.
The engine will be offered with an aluminum crankcase that includes dry sump lubrication and a cylinder angle of 90 degrees - both solution improving the center of gravity and improving the car’s handling dynamics.
The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera comes with the e-gear transmission operated via steering wheel paddles, as standard. The automated system with electronic management shifts through its six gears extremely smoothly and far more quickly than could be achieved by human reflexes. The e-gear control unit has three operating modes, two of which available in automatic. The "Thrust mode" delivers maximum off-the-line performance and is programmed to manage starting revs of around 5000 rpm with minimal wheel slip.
The engine will also be coupled to a permanent all-wheel drive that integrates a central viscous coupling and a 45 percent limited slip differential on the rear axle.
